This is a photograph of Herbert and Elizabeth (Betty) Jordan at their California home in 1945. That year Herbert turned 47 in July and Betty turned 50 in December. There is no information to indicate when this photo was taken during 1945.

Herbert moved to 6324 Klump in North Hollywood in the fall of 1942, while Betty stayed in Chicago. After he decided he wanted to stay in California, he went back to Chicago, arranged to sell their Throop Street home and shipped the goods to their new home during the Fall of 1943. They lived at the Klump home until about 1948. The Klump Street home had a badminton court in the backyard which is shown in the October 1944 wedding party photos for Ed and Jeanne Jordan

I have two identical prints of this photo. The first has print stamp 707 on the back and indicates North Hollywood California - 1945 at the top of the photo. The second photo has print stamp 811 on the back along with the script Betty and Herb Jordan - Their house in Calif.

There is a major change to the front of their home as compared to the Jan 1, 1945 photos with Herb and Dorothy Jordan at the same home. The difference is a white picket fence has been added along with some fast growing vines. Therefore this photo is much later in 1945 than January. Another clue is Elizabeth (Betty) has on a warm coat. Some likely dates for the photo might be their Aug 21, 1946 wedding anniversary or Betty’s 49th Birthday. But two observations led me to her 49th Birthday as a possible date. These were her warm coat also suggesting it is later in the year and her husband standing well behind her suggesting Betty was the focus. I therefore chose her birthday as the possible photo date. However, that dates was not referred to on the back of the photo. But if it wasn’t her birthday, then at most it was a month or so off from that date.
